Henry Schein Dental UK and International College of Dentists Support HealthServe Dental Clinic in Singapore

Henry Schein Dental UK supports HealthServe’s dental clinic in Singapore by providing oral health treatment to migrant workers including prophylaxis, fillings, extractions, and surgical procedures.

HealthServe is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing healing and hope to disadvantaged migrant workers in Singapore through a  holistic approach inclusive of  access to medical clinics, casework, social assistance as well as advocacy, research and outreach programmes. HealthServe was founded in 2006 on Christian values and since then has helped over 5,000 migrant workers. *)

“We opened HealthServe’s dental clinic in late 2015 and only after three months of service, we doubled the number of volunteers from 11 to now more than 20. We are open twice a week serving an average of six patients at each session. Nevertheless, we still have a waiting period of almost two months, which shows, how urgently this service is needed,” said Dr. David Cheong.  “With the generous support of the International College of Dentists (ICD) Global Visionary Fund and Henry Schein, we are now able to ensure oral health treatments for the next 10 to 12 months.”

HealthServe also intends to be a platform for effective volunteerism. The majority of the volunteers are enthusiastic dentists who graduated within the past five years. The three most senior dentists supporting the HealthServe dental clinic are Dr. Lewis Lee and Dr. Eugene Tang, both past presidents of the Singapore Dental Association and Dr. David Cheong, Administrator of HealthServe, who already helped setting up other important listed free dental charity clinics in Singapore in the past. *)

“By donating health care products to HealthServe through our partnership with the International College of Dentists, we were able to increase access to health care, support dental professionals in the provision of desperately needed treatment and preventive care and contribute to the success of this worthwhile cause,” said Simon Gambold, Henry Schein’s Vice President, EMEA Dental Group – Marketing.

Henry Schein’s donation is part of its partnership with the ICD Global Visionary Fund, and an initiative of Henry Schein Cares, the company’s global corporate social responsibility programme. Health care activities supported by Henry Schein Cares focus on three main areas: advancing wellness, building capacity in the delivery of health care services, and assisting in emergency preparedness and relief.
